Africa's Got Legs is an initiative of the Mineseeker Foundation, which is actively involved in the promoting the removal of landmines and the rehabilitation of land and people affected.

Once the landmines have been identified and the removal process is under way, the land will then be released for agriculture and a “Foster Management” team will be installed to teach the communities to sow, grow and sell their own produce, empowering the people to ‘self help’ - the only way to solve the landmine and famine problem, in the long term.

As part of this we have created the “Africa’s Got Legs” project which is our landmine and war victim assistance program It is vital for the well-being of the citizens of Mozambique and for the productive future of the country that those people affected by war are rehabilitated and are once again able to play an active role in society.

We are looking to build a number of mobile prosthetics clinics that will be able to gain unprecedented access to and provide prosthetic limbs and basic health services to those affected by war in the rural areas of Mozambique. These are people who are unable to reach the major centres for treatment and the mobile clinic will enable us to provide this facility.

Our primary objective is to be able to manufacture 100 prostheses per month, 1100 per year (with the clinic active for 11 months), and a total of 5500 over a five year period. If funding allows, 180 prostheses could be manufactured per month and 9900 over a five year period through one fully equipped mobile clinic. We estimate that there are currently 13000 people affected, however, we expect this figure to be more in the region of 18000 and will be able to confirm this once we have completed our survey.
